180 microns! He cut out the world's thinnest silicon wafer

He can use a 140-micron steel wire to cut a silicon wafer like a hair; he created a profit of 168 million yuan for the enterprise year; he won the National May 1st Labor Medal this year and became the first recipient of the photovoltaic industry in China. He is the 29-year-old wire saw worker Han Wei of a wafer workshop in Baoding Yingli Group.

The silicon wafer is 20 micrometers thinner, and the annual profit is 168 million yuan.

On May 26, when he met Han Wei in the wafer workshop of Baoding Yingli Group, he was working on a steel wire machine from a new factory in Switzerland. He was working on a steel line from a Swiss-made HCT-B5 wire saw machine. The thickness of the steel wire is 140 microns, and it is slightly inadvertent to break. Han Wei's hand is as steady as a rock, gently picking up the steel wire, straightening it, and winding it on the machine wheel.

"A saw is going to 4800 silicon wafers. The good and bad of silicon wafers are all on this line! Sloppy!" Han Wei said. In fact, Han Wei has already known the quantity and quality of each saw, because the cutting standards and procedures implemented by Yingli Group are currently being developed by the research team, which is the result of process optimization in the observation of staying up all night. .

This result is hard to come by. Compared to cutting technology from abroad, silicon wafers are 20 microns thinner, that is, each wafer thickness is reduced from 200 microns to 180 microns. This will result in an additional 600 wafers per saw, from 4,200 to 4,800. At present, this silicon wafer is the thinnest silicon wafer in the world. The improvement of only 20 micrometers has enabled Yingli Group to save silicon materials and create 168 million yuan for the enterprise.

Improving the silicon wafer cutting process has always been a world problem. Because the silicon wafer is extremely fragile, the difficulty of tackling is multiplied every time it is thinned. The 180 micron should be the limit of the thickness of silicon in the world, even if many foreign companies with advanced technology are discouraged. The author picked up a 180-micron-thick silicon wafer sample on the spot, but squeezed it gently. The silicon wafer was broken into three pieces in his hand. You can imagine how difficult it is to tackle the problem. Han Wei told the author that the difficulty mainly focused on the occurrence of a large number of "jumpers" and "cutting skews" in the cutting.

In order to overcome the difficulties, Han Wei often keeps on the side of the machine for more than ten hours. For the "jumper", after repeated trials, Han Wei found a clever way: add filter buckets on the equipment to filter impurities. Although it was only a small improvement, the number of jumpers was immediately reduced. For the "cutting", he greatly modified the machine tool spare parts imported from Switzerland according to the principle of wire saw cutting, and the result greatly improved the "cutting" problem.

After the trial was successful, it was promoted and it was urgent to rewrite the cutting procedures for all equipment. This data is very tedious. After Han Wei and three technicians followed the six-month-old shift tracking test, they finally got the perfect data and promoted the technology to the whole plant.

Dedicated to love and hard work, to achieve the "golden worker" dream

"My major is network technology and information processing. It is totally different from the photovoltaic industry. It was accidental to enter Yingli at the beginning." Han Wei told the author. In February 2007, Yingli Group went to Xingtai Vocational and Technical College for recruitment. Considering that he was closer to home, Han Wei, 22, submitted his resume and entered the Silicon Valley Workshop of Yingli Group, and became a wire saw worker.

"At first, I was very uncomfortable. When I heard the noise, I was worried, and I was not happy at work." Han Wei said. Although the savvy is not high, Han Wei looks for a rationale - success never comes at a glance, it takes more suffering and more effort than others. He always remembers what his mother told him repeatedly: "No matter what you do, you have to work hard to make more effort, you will not say it, you will not say it, you are really doing it, you should do more work, don't I am afraid of suffering."

Adjusting the mentality, Han Wei entered a state of self-denial work: he worked hard, he rushed to work; encountered problems that would not, and actively consulted the seniors. The test machine in the workshop is disconnected and needs to be re-injected. He did not say anything, rolled up his sleeves and trouser legs, and the cat's waist was drilled under the machine and dried up, often full of mud. In this way, he quickly got approval from his colleagues, and in a short period of time explored a variety of ways to deal with disconnection.

If you pay, you will gain something. In the past 7 years, Han Wei has won numerous honors: Yingli Group “Chief Employee”, Baoding “Golden Worker”, National May 1st Labor Medal... He not only has strict requirements for himself, but also brings out many outstanding employees, two of whom have become The head of the workshop and the “chief employee” of the group. "In fact, everyone can show their own wonderful moments and achieve self-worth through hard work." Han Wei said with deep feelings.
